BUILD YOUR OWN BITCH
(EINDHOVEN, JAN 2024 | STUDIO DO MAKE, DAE)

how has human selectiveness affected your dating life? did you face
rejection based on your specific quality? was it your appearance, gender
identity, ideology, age, personality, financial situation, race or religion?
have you rejected someone based on their height, diet, political views,
hygiene, or lifestyle? we are all selective and we can never be inclusive.
why did you swiped right on this person but swiped left on the other?
all of those decisions make up a pattern you follow.

BYOB is a digital manifesto of people’s behaviour. if you could build your
own partner, how would they look like? what would their race be? how
much money would they make? what would their personality be? most
of us grew up with the freedom of choice (like cartoons and games).
the sims, for example, allows you to create a perfect life, with perfect
people. tinder (along other dating apps) is an extension of this game
where you try to find this ‘perfect’ human, while you get the possibility
of being rejected as well. nobody is perfect. project exhibited on
trechter exhibition in april 2024 in schellensfabriek eindhoven.
