THE FUNERAL OF A WET WIPE
(EINDHOVEN, CHENGDU, SEOUL)

a funeral ritual given towards a wet wipe, a single-use object created
for human satisfaction. the ritual questions traditional the societal
hierarchyas well as positionality between humans and everything else.
it abolishes the norms and superiority of humans and puts objects
equal to them, especially one-time-use objects (that often don’t hold
value in societal terms).

the installation consists of aluminum cast ‘urn’, cast chain and a
video poem directed towards the wet wipe, taking position of a
deceised spouse. it aims on humanifying the wipe, giving it personality,
showcase care and thought it deserves. the project explores objects
through aspects of sentimentality, memories and emotions. the metal
exploration was accomplished thanks to mentorship of yoonjeong lee
